Enchanted East Day Tour
A visit to Bali would not be complete without seeing some of the magnificent temples around the island. Known across the world as the Island of a Thousand Temples, these awe-inspiring structures will leave you spellbound. A temple in Bali is so much more to the people than a place of worship, it becomes its own living community centre.
A temple, or more commonly known as a Pura, forms the backbone of Bali Culture. Of the many temples the most important would be considered to be
Basakih Temple – Karangasem
Lempuyan Temple – Karangasem
Uluwatu Temple – Badung
Goa Lawah Temple – Klungkung
Batukaru Temple – Tabanan
Pusering Jangat Temple – Gianyar
Today after collecting you in your private airconditioned car we will head a short distance to Lempuyan Tenple. This temple also known as Gates of Heaven has become synonymous with images of Bali. Talk with your guide and try and aim for a sunrise in this wonderful location, you won’t regret the decision.
Our nest stop is at the Royal Palace, or Tirta Gannga. Tirta Gannga is named after the scared Ganges River, which holds a significant place in Hinduism. The gardens include some great places to take photographs. If you are feeling like it, have a cool off with a dip in the large pool. This is a most beautiful place to visit, considering it was substantially destroyed by a volcanic eruption in 1963. It is home to a Patirthan Temple – simplistically a place where Hindus take holy water for religious purposes.
Our next destination is Taman Ujung. This is a site of a revered water spring and the Pura Manikan.
Considered to be one of the largest historical landmarks in Bali your stop here is sure to be worth your time. The buildings here are a remarkable combination of Balinese, European and Chinese origins. It is interesting to note while you are strolling the grounds that the architects were Dutch and Chinese.
It is a wise idea while you are in the area to take in the far-reaching views of Bukit Asah. Bali has developed a proud tradition of being a must-see tourist destination. At this site it has only recently started to become known for is towering views.
